Can someone please explain why since the iPhone 5 is being included and the iPod 5 is new than the iPhone 5. The iPod 6 is being included and both iPods are basically identical. So I don't understand.
They only appear identical on the outside and are very different inside; the specific detail is that the sixth generation’s CPU is far more recent.

Apple dumped all iPod Touch models EXCEPT the newest 6th gen models.
Only Apple knows why.
The 6th gen iPod Touch is the closest an iPod Touch has ever come to matching the specs of its full iPhone brethren.
No other iPod Touch model has the needed and newest hardware that the current iPod Touch 6th gen models have to handle iOS 10.

The 6 has a better processor than the 5, so likely the 5 simply doesn't have the 'oomph' to run 10.
From someone that's had both, I know the game that crashed a lot on the 5 doesn't on the 6.
Given the number of devices that aren't eligible for 10, I bet there is a minimum processor requirement for the OS
Seems the memory is the reason. The 5G only has 512 MB while all other iOS 10 devices have at least 1GB
